Master Wallace and the Journey of Tang Soo Do in Malta
Master Wallace began his Tang Soo Do training in 1994 in London, England. Reflecting on his early experiences, he says, "I started training in Tang Soo Do because self-defence was a necessity where I grew up. From my first lesson, I felt the family atmosphere that martial arts in general seem to cultivate. My instructor at that time was Master Paul McManus, who truly understood me as a young adolescent in need of guidance. Through Tang Soo Do and the mentorship of Master McManus and Grandmaster Suresh Nar, I learned valuable life lessons and found the means to steer my life toward a successful path."
In 1999, under the guidance of Grandmaster Nar, Master Wallace achieved the rank of 1st Dan. With a passion for sharing the art, he brought Tang Soo Do to Malta in 2000, becoming the island’s first and only Tang Soo Do instructor.
For over 24 years, Grandmaster Nar has continued to guide and mentor Master Wallace, helping him build the Malta Tang Soo Do Association into a strong and welcoming place for everyone to train. Through this partnership, Tang Soo Do in Malta has flourished, growing into a disciplined and respectful community that honors the traditions of the art.
On June 25th, 2010, after years of rigorous Masters' training camps, Master Wallace was awarded his Master’s Degree in Tang Soo Do. His belt was presented ceremonially by Kwan Jang Nim Ki Yun Yi, the founder of the International Martial Arts Association (I.M.A.).
Master Wallace shares his philosophy:
"We are given choices every day without fail. It’s the decisions we make that determine whether the outcome is good or bad. But perseverance through negative outcomes can build positive lessons—if you're willing to see them. Every lesson in life is valuable. As instructors, our aim is to help shape the lives of others, mentally and physically. Our teachings help turn negative situations into positive ones, keeping the mind focused on success. Only through commitment and true integrity can we experience the real meaning of brotherhood. Tang Soo Do has positively influenced every major choice I've made. That's why it's my way of life."
In 2000, Master Wallace established the Young Gi 용기 Academy in Malta, where he has worked tirelessly to promote Tang Soo Do, develop his students, and contribute to the success of Malta’s IMA Tang Soo Do.

Master Lee and the Journey of Tang Soo Do in Finland
My journey in martial arts began many years ago, and it has been a rewarding path of growth, discipline, and teaching.
I started teaching Tang Soo Do in Wixams, Bedfordshire, where I had the privilege of building a strong and supportive community of students. It was an incredible experience to see individuals of all ages and backgrounds embrace the art, develop their skills, and grow in confidence both inside and outside the dojang.
Through years of dedication and continuous learning, I achieved the rank of 4th Dan Master in 2022. This milestone represents not only technical expertise but also a deep commitment to the values of Tang Soo Do: respect, perseverance, and self-improvement.
In 2018, life took me to Lappeenranta, Finland, where I continue to train and teach. Here, I am focused on sharing the principles and techniques of Tang Soo Do with a new community. It’s a joy to see students discover their potential, overcome challenges, and develop a love for this martial art.
Tang Soo Do is more than just a practice for me, it’s a way of life. It has shaped who I am and has given me the opportunity to inspire others. My teaching is centered on helping students not only master techniques but also embrace the discipline and philosophy that Tang Soo Do represents.
If you’re interested in learning more about my journey or the art of Tang Soo Do, I’d be happy to share my experiences and guide you on your own path.
